A-Eye Level is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
This website is designed with the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive 2019/882) in mind. We are committed to improving accessibility on an ongoing basis.
Measures we have taken
The following accessibility measures have been implemented on this website:
Semantic HTML: All pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and semantic elements for screen reader compatibility.
Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are accessible via keyboard. Focus states are visible on all interactive elements.
Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
Responsive design: The website is fully functional across all screen sizes, from mobile phones to desktop monitors.
Reduced motion: Animations are disabled when the user has enabled "prefers-reduced-motion" in their operating system settings, or when the quiet view control in the site header is switched on. That choice, like the dark or light theme, is remembered in the browser.
Form labels: All form inputs have associated labels for screen reader identification.
Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text.
Link purpose: Links are descriptive and indicate their destination or function.
Text scaling: Typography uses relative units (rem, clamp) that respect user font-size preferences.
Technologies relied upon
This website relies on the following technologies for accessibility compliance:

- JavaScript (for progressive enhancement only; core content is accessible without JavaScript)
- ARIA attributes where semantic HTML alone is insufficient
Known limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we acknowledge that some areas may have limitations:
Third-party content: External platforms (LinkedIn, email services) linked from this site are governed by their own accessibility standards.
PDF documents: If any PDF documents are published in the future, they may not be fully accessible. We will provide alternative formats upon request.
Dynamic content: Some interactive elements use JavaScript for enhanced functionality. Core content and navigation remain accessible without JavaScript.

This statement was prepared based on a self-assessment against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria, last carried out on September 8, 2026, after the site's visual redesign. The site now offers a dark and a light theme and a quiet view that turns animation off, and both themes and both views were included. Colour contrast was measured on every text element and every topic mark of every page layout used on this site, in both themes, including the home page, the article index, archive and article pages, the newsletter index and issue pages, the topic pages, the approach page, the legal pages, the welcome and thank-you pages, and the error page. Alternative text, form labels and error messages, heading structure, landmarks and page language were then checked on all 105 published pages with an automated audit. Keyboard reachability, the skip link and the visibility of focus indicators were tested by hand. Every problem the review found was corrected before this statement was published.
The assessment was carried out by us rather than by an independent auditor, and it examined a representative set of page templates rather than every published page. If you find something it missed, please tell us using the contact details above.
